Here it is - Bailey's New Friend

Many of you know, we homeschool our kids. Well, I should say that I facilitate school and the kids do it on their computer. We use Switched on School House and the teacher is right there on the computer. Quite handy!

Well . . . Bailey was working away, she is quite studious and always gets her work done quickly. On this particular day, I heard this crazy scream. Then I heard it again and I ran into her room and this is what I found . . .

She's usually pretty articulate when she speaks but this had her all tongue tied! Finally, out came, "Mmmmmooooouuuuuussssseeeee!"

Not sure how the rascal got in the house but he was having a hay day in her bedroom! We let her know that . . . He probably looked at her when she slept, napped in her slippers, curled up in her pink furry rug! She, of course, had a FREAK OUT!

Okay - Let me give it to you straight! I don't like mice, I wanted to leave, I wanted to call someone, I wanted to call Rick and tell him to come home but . . . It's time to COWGIRL UP! I was somewhat calm, breathing a littl labored, my palms were sweaty, I'd much rather be cleaning up poop, or puke, or something gross . . . but no, I have to save my children. The first thing we did was close the closet door and the bedroom door and then stuff the bottoms with whatever we can find on her floor!

In a stroke of genious! I said, "GET A CAT!" Yea right!

He makes a move - shoots under the bed, the K's jump to the ceiling, I scream and have a panic attack!!

He makes another mad dash for the door, runs into the blanket stuffed at the bottom and then leaps under the little pink shelf right next to the door. Out of shear panick, I stuffed a towel underneath the shelf and waited for Bailey and Bo.

Please find the best mouser!

They come running back into the house and there was NO cat to be found!

How about Cowgirl the Dog - Nah - that could get messy!

I got a large bowl and told Bailey that when I poked the hanger under the towel, she was going to drop the bowl down over him! Of course, she thought she should be able to slide the hanger under the towel but being the MOTHER, I said that was my job!

I barely began to poke and she Squeeks and drops the bowl.

WE HAVE HIM! Yippee, Yeehaw! There is pandamonium! Total excitement and then . . . How in blue blazes am I going to get him out of the house?!

Bo thought of the cardboard! I'm sliding it under the bowl and the crazy thing jumps, I scream, the kids scream, and then we have him! AGAIN!

Once he's trapped, everyone has a look! He's really kinda cute - I can see now why Cinderella thought they needed clothes. He was shaking and shivering! I think he thought we were going to feed him to a big, mean, hairy cat! Well . . . that was my plan!

Securing the package and preparing for transport!

We take him a LONG way from the house and Ah - Sweet Freedom!

This is the wreckage! Bailey's pretty particular about her room but she didn't seem to mind the mess since we captured the mouse stalker!

Another exciting day at the Broken Y.

LOL! I'm the mouse catcher around here. Luckily we haven't had any at this house.

Oh my! I hate mice! For as little as they are, and relatively harmless, they sure can make you jump. We had one in our bedroom and let our kitten after it (back when we had the kitten...) and he just slung him all over the room, so it kind of defeated the purpose. Then we bought a few packs of mouse traps and sticky glue traps and before the night was over, we'd caught three! YUCK. I finally convinced dh to plug up some holes and since then, no more mice.

One year when my parents were building their house, they caught 30 mice in a single winter in their trailer. Now that's grody!

I have to say that, at over 22 years old, I STILL freak out every time I find a mouse in our milk house, or a bag of feed. But they are nothing compared to rats...which are nothing when one sees how I react to possums. Your daughter has my sympathies on the mouse attack front...they like to try and run up my pant legs!

They are fast little suckers...good mouse hunting! They ARE cute! I used those sticky traps ONCE and I was devastated....what do you DO with them....they are still ALIVE and STUCK... it was terrible! I prefer the traditional spring-trap, breaking of the back method. MUCH faster.

Oh that is such a hilarious story! Smart move on your part, to do the tupperware thing! That is what I would have done, too! I'm glad the cats didn't get him, that would've made the room a bigger mess, LOL!
I lived in a house years ago, and once I was in the basement rummaging through a bag for something I had stored in there...saw a flurry of fur and jumped back, and ran onto the bottom of the stairs in time to see a rat go climb out of the bag and go running to the back of the house! EEK!

Chris has a very large mouse evading capture at the shop. Stop by with your bowl and help him out!

Make it a BIG bowl!
