First Day of School

UPDATE: One of the advantages and beauties of homeschooling is that on this first day of school, Bailey started school at 7:30am and is now done with all six subjects, its 8:55am. Bo started at about 7:45am and will be done in about 30 minutes. This is not the norm, but not bad for the first day!

How cool is that?!

**************************************
It's the first day of school at The Broken Y! Can I hear a yippee, whoraw, whooowhooo, yeehaw? Well, not from the older kids. At 9th and 6th grade, the whole thrill of the first day of school has warn off and now they just get to it. One jumps right in, the other drags feet a little.

But the K's . . . well, they are very excited. I took them for kindergarten assessments and must say that I was a little worried. With the first child, you sit and read to them, you are all about teaching them everything you possibly can. Then the second child comes and you read a little bit to them because you are chasing #1 around and you have more laundry and more toys. When three and four come, especially at the same time, it becomes survival mode. Sleep is essential but lacking, grocery shopping is now an all-day event and the laundry . . . on my. Two little boys can create alot of dirty clothes! And what about learning to tie their shoes . . . well, boots suddenly go with not only jeans but shorts and sweatpants!

Fortunately, the heavens shown down on us last Friday and the boys, well frankly, are normal. Thank you, Lord. I was beginning to wonder if their little bodies created their own caffiene! They are on the go from sun up to sun down. And they are ALL boy. I was very proud of them. They didn't say things like, "butt crack" or "bootie butthead", or "You want a piece of me?"

So . . .we might do the Pre-School program in Udall but until then, I'm tackling the project.

Say a prayer for me . . . and them!

Blessings~
P.

I will say a prayer for you. WHEW! I THOUGHT about homeschooling, but I am not certain my children would be DEVASTATED to stay home with me and watch the kids across the street at the gradeschool playing. Do you use and online classroom?

How fun! You're an inspiration, ma'am. I remember the good ol' homeschool days of starting school early and being DONE early. It was my favorite part of the whole set up. Meant more time to learn all those life lessons that were just waiting for me outside. ;)

I do have to say that my four year old was spitting in line at school....sigh.....boys will be boys. You home school? My kids are always asking me to home school them, but I think I would go nuts. They think they will get to watch tv all day long. Silly kids!! I am glad your first day went well!!

Wow did that bring back memories! It was alot of hard work schooling all three, but I am glad I did...and after several years out of school, they have each said that they were glad I taught them...even though when they got to be teens they weren't as appreciative as they are now...we stuck to it (we have a church that we shared studies as well as outings with so wehad support all around.)
Enjoy your school year with them and more importantly, enjoy them. they really DO grow up to quickly!
Our oldest is off work and visiting us today...I just want to "mother" him...not cool when he's 27, eh?!

Yay! That is wonderful! This week we started school! We aimed for last week, but it just didn't happen after the 50th wedding anniversary celebration! We were all pooped!

I'm going to show Joy how quickly you all finished! We haven't done that well....I just have Joy - 5th grade, but it has been a good week so far! I'm actually glad to be back in the routine and I love the structure!

You asked if my handgun is lightweight. It's not really all that light. I tried one that was lighter...the S & W MP compact 9 mm., but the other one just felt better shooting it. There are definitely lighter guns. I'll check and see what it weighs and let you know!

Have a great day and Happy Homeschooling, Paula!
