Too Fast to Win? Who'd A Thought!

Okay, the barrel race is just that, a race! So when the 4D format started, it was to give women with maybe a little less horse an opportunity to win some $$$$. It is a good concept and Bailey has benefitted from it several times. But who would have thought you could say, "Doggone it, I was just too fast to win!"

Two weeks ago, Bailey took the Veteran to the Wednesday night Open Jackpot, ran inside, ran a 16.6 and won 1st in the 4D. This last Wednesday, they ran it outside, with a little bigger pattern and she ran a 17.6. Not too shabby for the Veteran! She ran too fast for the 4D and too slow for the 3D. Just fell right in the hole! It didn't matter. She made a clean run and Socks worked really well. She's been doing slow work with Mighty. Just getting his head cleared and her riding polished.

Here she is last week coming out of the first barrel. I love this shot, just wish the camera were better. I have the original picture and then a zoomed that's not so great.

The girl can ride!

Blessings~

PS - She's given me permission to take the horses on Wednesday since she's out of town!

PSS - COMING UP! Details and pictures from Bo's USSA Triple A World Series in McKinney, Texas! Tournament starts today!

My niece always has that problem too, falls right between the Ds!

I seem to always fall between the cracks at barrel races, but that all changes at a rodeo! My old youth barrel horse has found a whole new life rodeoing, as it takes a lot grittier, more consistent horse to win there. I feel your pain, though!

Yea, it stinks when you fall in the middle, but then you never know where the middle is going to be based on the fastest time...it's kinda like spinning the wheel. I like the system...we use it here with our little local club and everything is jack potted.

Anyhow...good job Bailey!! Looks like she's a dang good rider too!
