Just a quick post before I dive into the pile of work that is waiting for me! Jader-Tader, as she is affectionately called by us when she is NOT around is a little gal-friend of Bailey's. We've known her parents, The Chaotic Carlson's, for years and have just now rekindled a friendship since we are only about 6 miles away. Jade has three brothers, Bailey has three brothers, they both homeschool, etc. so they have alot in common. However, Jade comes from a "gear head" family - custom car painting, car showing, etc! The girl's dads swing on opposite ends of the pendelum but have a respect for each other as Christian men, husbands and dads.
Jade has gone with us to a couple barrel races. Her mom, Karma, dropped her off last week but decided to stay for a while. Jade was giving her the low down on splint boots, over-reach boots, over-n-unders, 5 second penalties, etc. Karma learned alot from her "gear-head" daughter about barrel racing.
Now Bailey and I have only gone a couple times. Keep in mind, Bailey and I are no threat to anyone with our times, as of yet. However, Bailey opened up a can of COWGIRL at the last one and knocked 3 seconds off her first time and skunked me! Of course, I was riding BIG. Rick told me I would need spurs but since I had never really riden Big, I passed. I should have listened. Getting the horse into a trot was alot of work. So I just decided to take it slow and easy. Make sure I didn't come off in front of all these women!
After my first run, posting a rapid 39 seconds on a 15 second pattern, I came back to the girls and Jade so affectionately said, "I'm sorry . . . I fell asleep . . . what was your time?" Instantly becoming a hit with everyone in earshot!
I'll continue to take her with us because we love her, smart mouth and all! No wonder she and Bailey get along so good!
Blessings~

Hilarious!! She takes after her parents in the whitty area!
That's pretty cute, hate to say it but it is. Oh youth where art thou?
Good for you! I am pretty impressed. a 39 is better then I would do... provided I was still horseback at the end. HA HA

LOL! I've seen a few 39 second runs, but it's always been a toddler on a big fat lazy horse. Sounds like Big does indeed need some spurs! ;) I love to barrel race. I certainly do not love barrel racing in newly oiled saddles with stirrups that come undone. I had that happen at a play day one evening, and if it hadn't been for my thigh muscles (which have seen better days) I'd of been a pile of flesh in the arena floor!!! I also have scars in even places on my legs from "practicing" barrels on my neighbors mare. That sucker sure could turn a sharp corner... ;) Fun memories, barrel racing with friends is the best!!
It's not the time that counts - it's the quality, right!? Ha! Sounds like loads of fun!
Jade gets her smart mouth from her Dad (as I'm sure Bailey does as well!! ;) She came home and told me she had said that, I was momentarily shocked...but it was really funny!! You may cowgirl her up yet -she now wants a rhinestone rodeo belt to wear with her car t-shirts. Seems like Jader and Bailey have a comfortable friendship. Those are the best kind.
Thanks for loving on her!! I'm glad God put you all and your coral close to us and our garage!! Love you girl!!
Great job! My thought is everyone has to start somewhere and we learn from doing it. Next time you'll know to wear spurs on him. You'll smoke them the next time! We do the playdays at our church once a month and I love them. The fun, fellowship and time in the saddle!
BTW-my ear is getting better, no pain anymore, but still feels stopped up! I'm on the road to recovery! It's this crazy weather here, doctor said anyone with allergies is really having a hard time. I will have to remember the proxide trick. This is the first ear infection I have had in awhile. Hope you all had a Happy New Year!
HAHAHA! Kids come out with the best things don't they?! I agree with Ranch Wife, a 39 is better then what I could do! Have never done that but would love to try.
Our temperature is -40* wind chill factor today!!!! That is VERY cold, I haven't stepped out of the house all day!! Sent Hubby down to the barn to feed little stray barn kitty who was snug and warm in the hay loft. Some days I am glad my horses are at the stable for the winter and this was one of them! lol!
Happy New Year!
Haha! That's too funny! Hmmm.... at least you didn't have a dude on foot beat you... I think I was just inspired for a new post! :)
