Kash Richard
Klay Don
When Rick and I decided to have another baby, I prayed - Lord, if you give 'em to me in multiples, I'll get my four kids with only three pregnancies! That was about three months before I got pregnant! But when I did get pregnant, and at three months looked like I was six months, I knew that I had twins. Rick still didn't think so until the sonogram confirmed it.
He and Bo were out in the arena when I got home - we just thought I was confirming a due date so the guys didn't go along - I hollered at them to come look at the pictures. I remember Rick clearly saying, "Come on Bo, lets go look at the baby!"
I showed him the most obvious picture right away - he said, "Well, there looks like there are two in there!" Of course, I started jumping around and screaming!
He says that I exagerate this part - but I AM NOT - he put his hand on his heart and said, "I need to go sit down." He was in the chair making phone calls the rest of the day!
I picked Bailey up at school - shared the pictures with her - of course she was excited but most concerned with what they were - she clearly wanted girls!
Life went on and babies grew, bigger, and bigger, and bigger! I had an official melt down at 33 weeks because I just knew I should be having these babies any time. But no, they were breach - snuggled in their nice and warm and they were not going to come out! At 38 weeks, my wonderful Dr. decided to do a C-section because they were not turning and I was not showing any signs of progression.
Klay, a.k.a. Baby A or Chevy was born at 1:30pm and Kash, a.k.a. Baby B or Dodge was born at 1:32pm. Kash was rushed to intensive care right away for lung issues. Klay went right to Dad. While in recovery, I hemmoraged and then experienced a blood pressure spike which caused some chaos and turmoil for about 2 hours - all the while, Rick was running back and forth checking on baby, checking on mommy, checking on baby, checking on mommy - It was crazy.
Finally, at 10:00pm that night, I still had not gotten to hold my baby Kash and I was upset - Rick told the nurses that he didn't care how they got me over there, but "This woman needs to see her baby!" We got to NICU and Kash was just screaming his head off. Rick was holding Klay and the nurse reached down and picked Kash up and layed him in my arms - I said, "Kash, I'm here" - he stopped crying - looked right into my eyes and all was right with the world! I looked at Rick, and my precious husband was crying.
We've been blessed beyond measure - there are days I feel younger, there are days I feel older - but all in all - the Lord heard my prayer and blessed me!
These brothers can fight like no bodies business but when it comes to lovin' - they sure love each other a bunch! Happy Birthday Boys!

Happy Birthday, boys!!
There's two to wash
There's two to dry,
There's two who argue
There's two who cry.
One's in the mud
Having a ball
The other holds a crayon
Another marked wall.
Some days seem endless
My patience grows thin.
Why was I chosen
To be a Mother of Twins?
The answer comes clear
At the end of each day,
As I tuck them in bed
And to myself I say.
There's two to kiss
There's two to hug.
And best of all
There's two to love.
(Have wonderful double celebration today!)
What a sweet birth story! Sweet in it's own chaos. Just goes to show it doesn't matter how the birth happens, it's a birth and that's miraculous enough. Don't you love it when the Lord gives us the desires of our heart? Tell the boys Oklahoma says happy birthday! :)
