I'm not a doctor or nurse. But I am a mother of four so I guess that makes me an expert! My diagnosis . . . I believe my thumb was dislocated. I couldn't bend the first knuckle, it throbbed up my arm, and I was ready to punch the lights out of anyone that tried to touch it. In a momentary brain lapse, I'm not sure really what I was doing, but I felt a pop, a hollow sounding "POP", felt pain shoot up my arm and then it was gone. I could bend my thumb and now all I have is the bruise. AND its okay if you laughed at the thought of me being drug around the arena or got a little sick thinking about my poor thumb laying in the dirt . . .ALL IS WELL NOW!
I had a fleeting moment of terror . . .
One that causes you to think of the . . .
Could haves - what ifs - Thank You, Lords.
It's really not that bad, but I am quite lucky.
Sis's horse, Mighty, has some minor gate issues, so I just take hold of his right rein and walk her into the alley where she then takes off to make her run. She always moves forward two or three steps before she bolts so that I don't get accidently kicked when he lunges out.
Well, last night, he started acting a little squirrelly, so I slid my hand down closer to the bit to have a better hold and control. Sis's reins are hooked to the bit with a simple brass clip (you know, the kind you can just slide the little button down and place it where you want it and then let it snap back), that kind of clip.
He started to turn on me when we got into the alley and sure nough . . .
my thumb wedged into the area where the clip and the ring of the bit join.
I didn't really feel it because I was talking to Sis and keeping ahold of him.
She said, "Okay, Mom" when I realized I was stuck. . . "Mother, OOKKAAYY".
She DIDN'T realize I was stuck!
And she's off!
Fortunately, my thumb is still on!
She made a good run . . . shaved 3/10th of a second of her first time in that pen. Did really well . . . I went to the bathroom and cried. Ran cold water over my thumb . . . determined the knuckle wasn't broken but NOT bendable, the nail is smashed and turning purple.
I'm really thankful . . . my thumb could have made that run with her, hanging out her bit . . . I could have made that run with her, slamming into the first barrel as she flung me around by my thumb!
Okay, now I am really laughing about this . . . but last night . . . I was in tears. The bad thing about it is . . . texting is extremely difficult without a thumb!!
Thankful for my thumb . . .
Blessings~

My New Do!
In my last post, I mentioned that my sweet daughter took me to "Curls Gone Wild," a really cute, vintage cowgirl themed salon for a "fixer-upper!" She says that you are just gonna have to see it in person cause the picture just doesn't do it justice! Yippee . . . let me know when ya'll are gonna stop by! Got to make sure the house is clean, goodies are made, and the hair is done!
Okay . . . Here goes . . .
I can flip it,
straighten it (which it naturally is),
curl it,
fluff it,
or just blow it dry.
It's darker,
Still has some red,
All this anticipation . . . .
And its just . . .
Me.

Here I am, in all my 41 years of glory! I've been slapping anti-aging goop on my face, causing my abs and inner thighs to cry out in pain, and drinking a green Maranga nutritional drink . . .
I don't feel 41! I may, though, after Princess and I are finished shopping at the USTRC Championships this weekend!
Headed to a barrel race tonight, my mom is coming for a visit tomorrow, and then packing the bags and heading to Oklahoma City on Friday morning! If you think of my husband, please pray for him. He ropes on Friday around 6:00pm in the #10. If he makes the shoot-out he ropes again Saturday morning. Then he ropes in the #9 around 6:00pm on Saturday. The shoot-out for the #9 and the championship roping are on Sunday. He's on good horses and has really spent alot of time in the practice pen. And all glory is the Lord's win or not.
Have a great week, Friends.
Blessings~

Happy Sunday Morning to Ya!
Good Morning Friends!
The men of the Broken Y headed into town for yet another fall baseball game. Not many left.
Princess and I stayed home from church today to get horses ready so we can go to a local indoor pen and do some roping so Rick can practise up.
We are headed to Oklahoma City to the USTRC Team Roping Championships next weekend. A couple of our friends qualified for the finals and asked Rick to be their partner. We are very excited!!
Not only is this a great thing for him but princess and I are going to shop until our feet scream! There is just all kinds of great booths, cowgirl stuff EVERYWHERE!! My birthday is also this week so this is like a little birthday get-a-way, except with the whole family!!
We are also going to take in my favorite steak house - The Cattleman's Steak House - near the old stock yards! I CAN NOT WAIT!!
Now my sweet daughter gave me my birthday present early. She took me to a salon called "Curls Gone Wild" - has a really cute vintage cowgirl theme and I got a new style and color! Can't wait to show ya'll my new look! Isn't she just the sweetest girlie on the planet! Not only that, but she finished 2nd in the 2D on Friday night! The girl is SMOKIN'!
I'm off now . . . just know, I keep up with all of you. I may not always leave a comment, but I'm checkin' in on all of you to see what is going on in your wild lives! You are special people to me!
Have a great Sunday and enjoy this YouTube video I've left you. I just love this song and am sending it to you today!

Kansas In All It's Glory
I am celebrating sunshine and thought I would share the State Flower in all it's glory!
These are next to our place. This was taken a couple weeks ago when the temps were a little warmer and it still felt like late summer.

Today, their heads are down low; full with seeds. It's been a joy to drive down the road with the sun blazing on this field. I shall plant Sunflowers next year, just because they make me happy!
Have a great weekend!
Blessings~

Be Careful What You Pray For . . .
Have you ever heard that phrase?
Well . . . I believe that God loves us sooooooooooo much that He cares about the tiniest little things that we have going on in our lives.
He also hears the prayers that we just toss into the air . . . not really thinking about what we say, just speaking. I did that a little over 5 years ago.
Rick and I were wanting another baby. After my second pregnancy, I said that I was done but then that tugging at my heart happened again and I decided that maybe I could do one more. I had always wanted four kids but had resigned myself to the fact that I didn't think my body could go through two more pregnancies. So . . . before I had even gotten pregnant, I said . . ."God, if you give me multiples, I could get two babies with one pregnancy." Do the math! Four kids!
What was I thinking!! Did I really think He wouldn't listen to me?
For the love of all things chocolate . . . would you look at that! Two babies, tucked warm in that tummy, laying breech and not moving an inch! 38 weeks and its time to see the answer to a prayer tossed up with the breeze!

I know . . . a large white stripe down the side of my shirt does nothing for my figure!
Baby A was born at 1:30pm and Baby B was born at 1:32pm.

I had a good friend, Brenda, waiting in the wings. She was a NICU nurse at the time and knew right away that Baby B - Kash Richard was going to need some help breathing. They held him up for me to see and then rushed him off. Baby A - Klay Don was right there with me the whole time.

It was a crazy time . . . I had a difficult time after delivery with hemoraging and then blood pressure spiking and then dropping. It was crazy. Rick was running back and forth from NICU to my room trying to be good daddy and good husband. I felt like a limp noodle. But my hair still looks good!
But poor little Kash-man was all by himself . . .

By 10:30 that night, I was beside myself wanting to see my baby. Rick went and found a couple nurses, brought them in the room and said, "I don't care if we have to wheel her whole bed into NICU . . . she's gonna see that baby tonight!" In about 5 minutes, I was loaded up and headed to Kash!
He was just a screaming his head off . . . it was terrible. The nurse taking care of him, was the wife of one of our team roping friends. She quickly scooped him up and handed him to me. I pulled him close, my poor baby! Looked down at him and said, "Kkkaaaasssshhhhh. Mama's here." He stopped crying and looked right into my eyes. At that moment, I fell in love, and then let all the tears of the day flow. I looked over at my sweet husband and he was letting the stress of the day flow also.
We came home after a few days and now have this . . .

State fair carnival ride junkies, five year old birthday boys, and hunters ready to take their double-shot nerf shotguns out with their big brother!
THEY ARE A HANDFUL! Don't get me wrong . . . these little guys are the source of all things funny, loveable, sweet, stinky, ornery, and precious around our house. When it's quiet . . . we are looking for them . . . either they have fallen asleep in exhaustion somewhere or they are up to trouble!
And in all this . . . I Praise Him for listening to my heart, even when my words were just . . . tossed in the air.
Blessings~

Bailey and Her Buckle
Look at what my girl has won! She finished 2nd in the 4D at the DK Bar Ranch Summer Series on the good old veteran, Socks! Dad said he's been roping for 20 years and never won a buckle. She starts running barrels and in 6 months has a buckle and a load of cash!

We are having the buckle taken off the breast collar so she can wear it on her belt. We will put something on the breast collar in its place.

Her best pal, Jade, a.k.a. Jader-Tader was there to share in her happiness. Jade comes with us alot and is just a dollie. If you remember, I mentioned the infamous Dr. Pepper T-Shirt - well Jade misplaced her prized possession and was beside herself for several weeks trying to determine which one of her precious friends was wearing her T-Shirt! She even thought of questioning me until she came to her senses and realized there was no way my body was going to shrink enough to fit into that shirt! Well . . . her Grandma found it under a bed after Jade had visited! Mystery Solved!

We still love her and are going to keep hauling her with us!
Bailey starts two winter series' on Mighty. I've mentioned our good friend, Kristy - she's been working with Bailey and Mighty and they are doing fabulous! The jewelry Bailey has on is a gift from Kristy. She wore it when she ran one of her really good horses and won alot and just wanted to share it with Bailey. She's a great cowgirl and friend.
Blessings~
