The Gore Score!

Well . . . this is how it all started. He thought the clutch was going bad on the truck so he decided it was time to take it apart. In doing so, he was going to have to drop the transmission out in order to get to the clutch.

This doesn't worry me because the DH is not only a CPA but a licensed aircraft mechanic and inspector and an auto mechanic! Lots of good functioning mush in that handsome head! Besides, there is just something about a man that's been workin'!

Anyway . . . here is the truck . . .

The transmission out of the truck . . .

The flywheel out of the truck (by the way, if you haven't seen the movie "Flywheel", you should) . . .

Now what really happened . . . well . . .

He had the trannie out on the ground and was taking the flywheel off. This baby weighs about 60 pounds. He thought it was being held in by a shaft or something like that and when he loosened the last bolt . . . yep, you guessed it . . .

The 60 lb. flywheel crashed down onto his hand, smashing it against the transmission.

Bo was sitting there holding the light and asked him if he was okay, he said, "Lets get outa here." Bailey saw him come out of the garage and bend over and ran to me and said, "Mom, I think Dad is hurt." I step out the back door, he rounds the corner of the house and said, "I cut my hand." I run in to clear an area around the sink, get him inside, take the dirty, greasy rag off and blood shoots everywhere. Okay, gore score - 10. He said the pain was incredible.

Then . . .

He proceeds to step back, and back again, and turns and falls into my wall of cabinets. Face ghost white - great - he's gonin' down. I get ahold of him, realize he's gonna pass out and decide the emergency is our next stop. Debated on an ambulance because I wasn't really sure what kind of artery he had cut.

We get him to the ER and he is filthy . . .

Not so white anymore but really feeling some pain . . .

They completely deaden his hand so they can clean all the grease off before they can even look at it.

Once he's cleaned up . . . this is what they found . . .

They took X-rays to make sure no bones were crushed and fortunately nothing broken. They decided to dig around a little before they just stitched him up and found that he cut two tendons. The first doctor said he cut them and she showed me a cut tendon - looks like a cooked spegetti noodle. The next doctor said he just nicked them and was really lucky. I'm wondering if there is a cut tendon in that hand that we are going to have to deal with at a later date. They stitched the tendons and his hand and sent us home.

After a shower, this is what we have. Extremly sore - not able to bend the fingers, bruising started.

He's trying to cry, but it's just not working.

We are thankful he wasn't hurt worse. He thinks it was a wasted trip to the ER.

I don't!

Blessings~
P.

Oh my goodness! I get faint at the sight of blood, especially my own. Thank goodness it was not as bad as it could have been. He's trying to look all pitiful, isn't he!

Oh goodness, way scary. Praising the Lord that it wasn't worse!

So my dad looks over and sees the photos on your blog, wants to know what happened. I describe it. He then begins telling me the story of a guy who knew a guy he knows, who was working on a backhoe and it started up, ran him over, and killed him. Now you know where my cheerfulness comes from LOL!!!!

Chris is feeling his pain! Love the pic of his greasy pants, you are a true blogger.

I looked at the last picture of him and said, "I don't think he's faking it, poor guy" Chris looks at it and laughs. Only men laugh at each other's injuries.

Glad you weren't hurt worse Rick. My apologies on Chris' behalf.
