Rain, Baseball, and Laundry

~ UPDATE! We have SUNSHINE and BLUE SKIES above! Yippee, Yeehaw, Hot Dog, lets go mow the grass! ~

Okay - I am sure you are all tired of my rain complaining, especially the gals in the drout stricken areas! We're going on day 465 of constant rain. Okay, maybe that is an exaggeration but it seems like it. No sunshine is making me edgy, depressed, sleepy, groggy, lithargic, and extremely behind on my baseball mom's tan. And I don't need to remind those of you who know me in person that it takes me all summer to get any kind of a tan!

Here is a self-portrait of me enduring the rain at Bo's baseball tournament in Salina this last weekend. Please note: No tan, rained off make-up with exception to the eye liner complimenting the many laugh lines around my eyes. My umbrella is doing a stand-up job keeping me dry! I'm wearing a turtle neck, sweatshirt, and jacket in May! We've had two baseball tournaments started and then rained out half-way through so it was good to actually get to finish a tournament.

Here is a picture of Bo pitching.

He hasn't done alot this season. He is the primary short stop, a catcher in training, and number 5 out of 7 pitchers. He likes to pitch but I think he likes catching better. He did a fantastic job in this game for it only being his second time pitching this season. He struck out several batters, some hit off of him, BUT he didn't walk anyone! Oh, wait, he hit his first batter right in the shoulder. Just happened to be the biggest kid on the team. Fortunately, the batter didn't charge the mound!

His bat was really hot at this tournament. No homeruns but significant hits that gave them run opportunities. We are really proud of him. He has taken ownership of his practices and his team. He has stepped up into a leadership role offering encouragement to the pitcher, keeping the team up on the count, encouragement from teh duggout and causing "chatter" - "hey batter, batter". We are on a competitive team - no trash talk, but this is baseball!

Here he is goofing off for me. He just stole home, picked up the bat, and pretended to break it over his knee. Unfortunately, my camera doesn't do action shots very good so this is after the bat breaking.

Now, my last post mentioned 10 loads of laundry - just so happens that four of those loads were created by two very active, ornery, energetic, and silly four year olds! I decided that enough was enough . . . if the big kids can do their laundry, the K's can learn!

Klay has his six-shooter on his hip, playing "Matt Dillon". Gunsmoke is a favorite around here and the K's are always chasing bad guys or facing off in a gun battle. We draw on each other with just about anything - spoons, shoes, you name it.

Klay thinks he needs to give Kash some encouragement by threatening to draw on him if he didn't fold.

Note that Kash is the only one really working. He loves to fold clothes . . . don't ask me why!

I am not totally caught up on the laundry, just maintaining. Maybe, just maybe the sun will come out tomorrow and I can hang a bunch out on the clothesline!

I am refreshed and encouraged as I remember how the Good Lord placed a rainbow in the sky for Noah as a sign that He would not destroy the earth with water ever again. His mercies are new every morning.

Blessings~
P.

Oh I hear you on the rain. It's on the forecast through next TUESDAY. AGHGHGHGHG. I don't mean to complain either, but this isn't Louisiana for Pete's sake. Good luck with the laundry. Lord help me when I have a passel of kiddos, because I can barely stay afloat in the laundry department as it is. I dislike laundry with a purple passion. :P

Send Kash my way I could always use some extra hand folding laundry! Grayson likes to help me fold pants and towels, but it is sometimes easier to let him go play with Tate. Tate is not so much help. :)

It has been off and on rain here for the past few weeks! I hear ya girl! If I didn't do laundry every day I would be so far behind! Hoping you get some sunshine though, I know when it's dreary outside it makes me lazy, lethargic and moody! No saddle time bums me out!

I hope you see the sun soon. I get very grumpy without it myself! Love the laundry gunfights! The husband and I watch Gunsmoke and Bonanza reruns on the weekends. Nothing better!

Rain can get old really fast. And it does make for a lot more laundry!! Especially with two four year olds!! And you have them trained well, or in training well. Look at those kids fold. Complete with six shooter!! LOL!!

And those baseball pictures are great! Look at that pitching picture!! Good form for playing short stop!!
