What Happened?

I'm new to this "Keeping Chickens" thing . . .

Ya think one egg looks like any other egg . . .

Right?

Then you find something that looks like this . . .

Ya have to rub your eyes, make sure you're seeing it right. . .

And wonder . . . What Happened?

Which-ever hen laid this must have sneezed, oops, out came one before it was ready! If ya have youngins you know what that's like! hahaha

We decided to crack it open and SURE ENOUGH . . . a teeny-tiny little egg yoke. I felt kinda bad! I mean, it's just a baby egg!

Then I washed it down the drain and cracked about 10 big ones in a pan for breakfast!

The ladies are being good to me!

You should've eaten the little one, too. ;-) Yeah, my mom brought me a dozen farm eggs this week and everyone of them was a different color...all ranges of browns & blues. They are kinda pretty, I didn't want to eat them!

LOL! I did a post a while back about one of those I found. I too cracked it open and sure enough, a baby yolk! Kind of funny because I just read another blog yesterday and they got the same thing! Gotta love those newby hens and their spring lays. ;)

My hens are so worthless, I don't even get small ones. I'm lucky to get a egg a week.
I have slight bitterness towards chickens.

I need chickens in the worst way but I just don't have the heart to house them in the present coop. Poor old thing looks like it should have been retired years ago. Looks like I may have to start researching for a coop remodel. I envy you and your fresh eggs...even the tiny one. We all have our days. Tomorrow she just might lay you a double-yolker!

That's a cute little egg! Have you gotten many double yolks? I don't miss my chickens, but I sure miss the eggs.
