My friend, Dee is an absolute doll! She is the office manager at my real estate office and she will literally bend over backwards to help anyone get anything accomplished. She is a 5 ft., 100 lb. ball of fire!
Dee and her husband, Tom, received news that Tom has Type A, Non-hodgkins Lymphoma. A cancer of the blood cells that has inhabited the bones also. Fortunately, it is only in the bone and has not traveled to the body tissues.
It has been a difficult wait for the diagnosis. They have both been in a state of shock. You see, Tom is 59, very active. He raises bucking bulls for the PBR and is also a train conductor. He is a busy man and has provided well for his family. This news just set him back on his haunches.
The doctors have determined that 8 weeks of chemo should slow this train down and should give Tom ten more years.
When Dee told me ten more years, we both went, "What? Only ten more years?" Tom said, "Ten more years!!" He had already begun preparing for them to tell him two more years, or less.
Psalm 100:1-5 -
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever,
his faithfullness continues though all generations.
So, this Thanksgiving, I am thankful for TEN MORE YEARS!
Have a wonderful week. Please keep the Bertrands in your prayers. God is good and His love does endure forever.
Blessing~

Yes, praises to God!
A blessed thanksgiving to you and yours and to your frineds as well!
Praise God for Tom's news! I have a dear friend, Virginia, who's on her few days. She's 48. She has liver cancer. God is our ultimate Healer - and going home to Him will be her ultimate healing!
So sorry to hear about your friends news. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.
Oh wow...we know them, he sells bulls with us on occasion...will keep them in prayer. I forgot she worked up there!!
Great minds think alike...that's my scripture I have on my blog today!!!
Love ya and have a BLESSED Thanksgiving...
I am thankful for you and your friendship even though we don't see/talk to each other as much as we would like...I always know you are there and am so grateful!!!
What a blessing for them! I'll be praying though, I would want more than ten years too. These kind of things always are a sobering reminder of how precious our time on this earth is. Looking forward to eternity where there is no bad news!!
Thankful for 10 more years. Ya know Jesus may come before that 10 years even gets here and then he will be totally and completely healed forever.
Praying for His return....

That was such good news. What a blessing to know you will have 10 more years. The memories you will be able to make with your good friends. Hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving!
Indeed -- it goes back to the glass of water. Is it half full or half empty? I once heard a preacher say that we shouldn't look at whether the glass is half empty or even half full -- we got water, which is a gift and a blessing, and that's all that matters! Praise God for 10 years, but we will also praise God for whenever He sees fit to take your friend home -- which will of course be the ultimate healing!
Oh I hope all goes well for your friends. How devastasting. I am glad to hear that the chemo will be successful. My thoughts and prayers to them.
(playing catch up from the last week)
WOW, that is really a bitter sweet diagnosis...I am glad that they gave him 10 years, if it is God's will then he will take when he's ready...But I never forget to think of medical advances, in this next 10 years God could create a new drug that could extend beyond his 10 years..I will keep your friends in my prayers...
