HHHHHEEERRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
What could it be?
Stirrin' up some dust that's for sure.
Could it be? Wait . . . I can't see it . . . Wait, there it is!
A Combine! Yep! A Combine in Kansas! Who would have thought! This is where I should insert my picture! But I can't find the doodad that I need to hook my camera up to the computer so just imagine . . .
Waving wheat . . .
choppy, choppy, choppy!
Okay, you're thinking . . . wheat is being cut everywhere in Kansas . . . why is she so excited?
Well . . . last year, we had the biggest heads of wheat. We just knew we were going to have a good harvest. Reports of 35-40 bushels an acre - we were looking good!
Then our worst nightmare . . .
H A I L!
We got 15 bushels an acre.
So . . . no hail this year . . . things are looking good!
It's a good day in Kansas at the Broken Y!
Blessings Ya'll!

All fingers and toes crossed for good weather for you guys!! The weather here just finally cleared up.
Oh man we have custom cutters EVERWHERE!!! And of course all of the local farmers too....Had to remind my son to watch out for their flying semi's and grain trucks!! Some of them are just down right dangerous!!
LOL--love to see our combines doing their job too--especially on a field with a great yield!! :) We still have little baby wheat for now....we don't combine it until the end of August! I know..what a difference a few states makes! Stop in for a visit...Happy Harvest! :)
I miss wheat harvest. I am weird, I know. But I have always loved watching a combine cut wheat. I spent alot of time in the field with my dad during this time of year. He never would let me run the combine...but I did my share of hauling and tractor driving. And the smell of newly cut grain...ahhhhh, farmer roots run deep in my soul. Ha

Good news! Would love to see a pic of the cutters as I am a bit clueless about these things. I did get that song in my head...that country one about the "I'm a combine driver....on my international harvester..." ;)
