Who Could It Be?

I laid in bed last night with post ideas running through my brain. Probably because I ate so much food last night that I couldn't sleep! My sweet cowboy took me to dinner last night for our 18th wedding anniversary! We went to a new place in Wichita called Hanger One - by the airport - with a view of the runways up in the "smoker's lounge." The food and service was excellent. It was quiet dining with a huge selection of wines all displayed in a large glass room, flat screen tv's showed different airplane footage from fighter jet action to airliner shots. The music was turned down low so people could actually hear each other visit. It was a welcome change to the loud "roadhouse" style that we seem to have alot of in Wichita.

Went and got some ice cream, did a little shopping, and came home. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable night. We were married six years before we had kids and we both decided that if we could do anything over, we would have traveled more in that six year period. Taken more vacations to places we've really wanted to see.

Kansas has just been pounded with storms the last five days. Thunder, lightning, tons of rain, tornado warnings and sitings. We have flood warnings out - the Arkansas River has crested in many different locations near us. We have thick clay mud, standing water, and grass that decided to grow with each inch of rain!

If you are not familiar with spring in Tornado Alley - after living in Kansas all my life there are some patterns to follow - typically, tornados start brewing between 3:00 in the afternoon and 7:00pm in the evening OR 3:00am to 7:00am. Needless to say, I was up several times each night checking the radar. Living in the country poses additional risks as you don't have the local law enforcement cruising your street to inform you of danger. So, I tend to be more aware of the sky and watch the radar a little bit more.

Now . . . I got an interesting piece of mail yesterday. Came to me with nice handwriting, post marked from Santa Anna, California. Had a nice article in it about gardening from USA Today. Had a post-it note that said, "Paula, You've got to read this!" It was signed "J". For the love of chocolate and money, I do not know who J is. Is it a blog friend? It is someone who would have access to my complete mailing address. Know that I like to garden, however, am having a hard time this spring, and would also know that I am a little concerned about our current economic state, which the article was somewhat about. If you are reading this, and you are the kind person who sent me the article, please let me know.

That's a quick update from the Broken Y. Baseball and Jr. Rodeo/NBHA this weekend. Still have not found my camera. Guess I may need to go shopping. All is well here.

May you be richly blessed this week! If you've never experienced the salvation offered through Jesus. Shoot me an email. You don't want to miss it!

Blessings~
P.

PS - Iowa is NOT the heartland.

Glad yall had the chance to do that. DH and I have often said the same thing.......but would not trade the kids for anything. Guess we will just travel when we get the AARP discount...providing we can motivate then.

I grew up in tornado country so I feel your pain....spent many a sleepless night in the hall closet. Ha

Yep all the events of the world can sure mess up a nights sleep....but just have to remember its all in His hands.

Like the new header and look over here!
Weird about the mystery mail....at least it was something nice, right? ;) Let us know who it is!
Tornadoes intrigue and frighten me. I loved that movie Twister. I think because we don't have them on the west coast, they have always been a bit of a mystery.
Happy belated anniversary, by the way!

I'm a weirdo, I love crazy Kansas weather...even with the sirens blarring the other night it brought back funny memories of my dad. He always loved this time of year!

No, I don't have local law enforcement traveling my street during a tornado warning either - and I'm in town.

The quickest way to find your camera is to go buy a replacement!

What a sweet aniversary dinner. Ross and I had to wait 13 years for a honeymoon - I had a two year old and we had one on the way so we are waiting for that day when we can run off again. We've been married over 20 years now so maybe......???

Happy Anniversary! Glad you had some fun time together.
David and I said we should have traveled more while 'childless' too. Now we will have to just fit it all in when they are grown.
