Okay - I'm still working with an old camcorder that you can't put on to the computer so I'm gonna give you play-by-play. Sometimes your kids do things that just make you drop your jaw. I'll never forget Bo's first homerun and I'll definetely never forget this . . .
My Cowgirl, Bailey, has been working real hard on her barrel racing. She got Charmeyne James and Sharon Camarillo books on barrel racing - has read both books - highlighted in both books - rode her horse everyday - even in 40 degree weather - has listened to what Mama and Daddy say - and went out last night and made a crazy fast run!
We like to say that barrel racing is just a controlled accident waitin' to happen. To give your horse the momentum he needs to turn that first barrel, you really need to be coming in the arena full speed. That has been a little intimidating to Bailey, until last night.
We record all her runs and then come home and evaluate them. Look at what was done really well and the areas to work on that will shave off time. We did that last week and she really saw that she could make up time if she came in a whole lot faster.
We got home last night, watched this run several times, and honestly, I don't think there is much she needs to do. It was a perfect run . . . maybe give Mighty some encouragement on the way home with her over-under, but man . . .
I've shared the 4D format - this arena runs 1/2 second off fastest times. Bailey didn't win money, but she shaved 1 1/2 seconds off her last time, and finished just out of the money in the 2D! Yes, you read it right, 2D! Remember how we felt like we'd won the National Finals when she ran and placed in the 4D?! Yeah - She is soooo smokin'! Some of the "fast-time" barrel racers came up to me and said, "Wow - She really put together a good run!"
So . . . I cried. I know . . . I cry alot . . . I might be menopausal . . . I don't know, but doggone, when you see your girl do so well after such hard work . . .
What is next for my girl . . . well . . . she has big dreams . . . I'll keep you posted!
Please, Remember, All of us at the Broken Y . . . praise God when we win, we praise God when we lose.
All Glory and Honor to the King!
Blessing~

Awesome! It must be WONDERFUL to see passion in your children....it would bring me to tears, too. You should be very proud of her. I like these posts about Bailey's riding.
That even made ME tear up - and I'm not even her mom!
BTW - LOVE your header!
I'm not sure what all that means but, YOU ROCK BAILEY!! Sounds like she is making big improvements, I always cry at my kids accomplishments too. Jade said that she has seen her improve in the times she has watched.
Wow! I may actually watch a rodeo one day (never been to one) and say, "Hey! That famous-barrel-racing-Yaussi-girl once shot Kix out of her nose in my kitchen!"
I LOVE IT! Yeah for Bailey!
But even more... Praising God when you win and praising Him when you lose. I am going to try to instill that in my students more.
(Oh wait... I can't in public schools... Well, maybe on the side...)
How exciting!!!! That is just awesome. It must feel great to have such hard work pay off.
Ok - I am not a material girl, but you've got to go get yourself a new video camera so we can share in the excitement! How cool! You go girl! We're cheering you on!
Oh, and one more thing - the tears. I hear you.
No it was Jade who shot the Kix out of her nose.
Thanks every one for all of your sweet comments.
Bailey
AWESOME! Good luck Bailey!
I'm so happy for her! It shows hardwork pays off.
How awesome!!! It pays to put all your hard work into something. Keep up the good job.
Don't be ashamed of those tears girl....we've earned every one!!
Whoo hoo you go girl!
Mama we all cry over our kids. Tears of joy are the best tears. :)
~M~
Oh, how exciting! Good for her. I can tell you are a proud mom. It has to be wonderful to see your children work hard something (I'm impressed by her studying and reading up!) and then be successful.
That is so great!!! I see our cowgirls share a common interest!! And yes the tears are definitely OK!! Maybe someday if you ever upgrade your camera we can see video, you know I love video's LOL!!!
Woo hoo, way to go Bailey~ How exciting for you all! Dang too bad you can't put it on for all of us to watch! And yes Praise God!
Yeehaw, Bailey! Go for it, girl!! We're all so proud of you!! :D
Woohoo Bailey!
At a rodeo camp a few years ago the barrel instructor (can't remember her name) told the kids - "If you won - it was your day to be blessed and if you lose - it was someone elses." I love that saying, it applies to all things!
