At the present time, I am the "ride once a week" type of cowgirl. The "Young 'Un" rides every day! It it is paying off!
This particular jackpot is "Open" which means anyone can run - PRCA - College - Professional Trainers, etc. Bailey's first jackpot was two weeks ago and her horse ran away with her. Was an eye opener for her because she's been looking for a better horse and realized she has a little missle underneather her! But she came home, rode him at home, practiced, watched videos, read up on the subject and we went back.
Now for my Sweet Sistas who are City Slickers - let me explain - this jackpot was run in a Division format - 1D is the overall fastest times, 2D is 1/2 second off the fastest time, 3D is 1 second off the fastest time and 4D is 2 seconds off the fastest overall time.
Bailey came out yeehawing and took the first barrel real nice - this barrel worries her because "Mighty" tends to bow out on the bottom side of this barrel but he did a great job this time. She really hussled him to the second, whipped around it like nobodies business and made the third barrel look like a walk in the park! Of course, I was holding my breath so that I wouldn't holler while I was running the video camera! Her time was a 16.25! Fastest time she has ever run! We were so excited - we both felt like we'd won the National Finals!
We waited on the rest of the gals to make their runs - 43 total. We'd unsaddled our horses, put their blankets on, started the truck and were waiting on the winning order! We were so shocked to hear that Bailey placed 2nd in the 4D! Woooohoooo! Second official jackpot and she's a-bringin' home money! You know . . . you have to pay to play!
So . . . she has become the offical barrel horse trainer - she has done everything on Mighty - no professional training, just a determined girl with a couple barrel racing books and a Mama who kinda knows what to do!
We have fun on our girl dates and hopefully Mama will be making fast time soon! I'm so proud of her . . . she has really worked hard and now has the "Fever"!
Blessings~

Oh hooray!! That is awesome!! And I am sure she feels so great about being able to have worked with that horse all on her own, well, with help from her momma!! :) Congrats!! What fun!
Congrats to her! Sounds like she's doing a great job with it. Tell her to keep up the good work and she'll be winning the 1D before long!
How awesome!!! That is so exciting for her and you. Where are you guys going to run? Tell her to keep up the good work.
Way to go! Keep it up!
Now Momma you need to get out there more than once a week and practice too! My goal is to ride my gang every other day! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't! But man riding 3-4 horses is alot of work! Especially a colt! I'm so glad you all get to share that special time together! I love taking Savannah to her rodeos and watching her!
Of course I have NO idea about any of that....but that is AWESOME for Bailey! Very exciting to do that well first time out! Looks like you have a natural on your hands!
Congratulations!!!! That is soooo awesome! I cannot even imagine how much pride and joy the two of ya'll felt when you got that money!
Way to go Bailey! Jade was pretty excited for you when she got home!

Yoohoo! Congrats to Bailey! :)
Atta girl! Great job! Now that she's hooked, you'll be hauling all over the place! What a great Mama-daughter bonding time!
It is always good when one brings home a check! We are thawing, drying and warming up here in the north lands and have even snuck in a few rides. Nothing's in shape yet so no jackpots for us until late April. Can't wait to get going again.
