Rowdy Madness!

I don't know how many of my Bloggin' Gal Friends actually have these little weiner dogs, but I'm ready to send another one to any one of you!

I need some desperate help! I take the little pistal outside and leave him out there for a good 20-30 minutes. Bring the little monster back in and within 10 minutes, he has pooped and peed on my floor! I mop with Clorox to get rid of any smell and he still does it!

So, I tried crating him during the day and take him out every 1.5 hrs faithfully, and he doesn't do it, but yet he's crated all day long and then all night. He doesn't even wimper when he's crated during the night, unless I've had him crated during the day.

I let him in the main part of the house, under strict supervision! He's allowed about 5 minutes and then back out - he can manage to pee in that 5 minutes!

I've really had about all I can take. This is worse then a baby! I should have just gotten one of those!

ANY and ALL suggestions will be greatly appreciated before Rowdy becomes a Barn Dog!

Blessings~
P.

I'll weigh in, though for what it's worth we still have a few accidents a week:) Every time Jax went potty outside we would give him a treat (we used Beggin' Strips broke in half). He is now 8 months old and only has accidents at night. That is even eliminated if we take him out right before bed and first thing in the morning. We were ready to ship him back, and still have moments of frustration but we are gaining ground!

I took our dogs as puppies and put a leash on them and hooked the leash to my belt loop. Then I could keep an eye on them at all times. That helped for me. The only downside is that they both follow me everywhere!

We have Jacks and they can't be trusted. Our male will mark things, so regardless of whether or not he really has to pee....a new room, new smells...he is going to pee on something. Maybe the banishment from certain spaces only creates the NEED to pee in them more. There's my idea!

My Ginger is a girl...and we didn't have all that much trouble with her...BUT...Cottonpicker is having a heck of a time with hers. I will let her address that.

Wish I could help. But they are very stubborn dogs, too smart for their own good, and they are known for being hard to housebreak.

Best of luck.

Sorry, I've had my Yorkie for 13 years and I still come home to "accidents"! I am definitely not the dog whisperer!

So far the disgust of having to clean up is outweighing the enjoyment. I guess it's a good thing I'm getting ready to put laminite flooring in!

Does he go on puppy pads? When we're gone, my yorkie, Pistol, 6 (who has kidney problems) can't wait - so we lay out pads.
He only goes once on the pad, but it still saves the mess. Hopefully you can get some good tips to help.

They like to pee on laminate, too. lol. Banishment works around here. Our S.A. is next to our Pizza Hut, plus, we have the G.W. next to the Dollar Store. You have a better chance to find some little treasure if you hit both.

Sorry, I don't have any advice so all I can do is commiserate and be thankful that I'm not the one cleaning up after the little toot! I guess I can send you canine house breaking prayers!

You may try limiting his water intake. Sounds cruel and unusual, but free choice of water and food is a sure fire way to make sure he's gonna be "loaded" whenever he feels like it. Correlate your potty breaks with water breaks. Take him out to pee right after he drinks water, and then again in 10 minutes, and again in 30. If you can catch him peeing outside, make the biggest fuss over him...
Then, get the good ol' nip tuck as soon as he's old enough! I got your e-mail and I haven't forgotten you :) I just have to sit down and put all my thoughts together for ya. :)

I can' help, I thought only MY dogs were hard to train...we gave up on one...he "got adopted", the other ended up just not working out...for other reasons as well.

Now, I did have a baby instead of a puppy...works for me!!

For some strange reason I am really good at house breaking dogs. I don't know what it is, but I am good at it. Weird right?

I have a 4 month old bulldog who is fully house broke. What I do is attach the dog to me. I have a leash that goes around my shoulders or waist and the dog learns to stay by me. That way you can catch them in the act. Then you can spank them when you see them peeing or pooping. You can also see when they actually need to go potty. When they start sniffing around a lot, they need to go outside.

When you go outside say, "Let's go potty!!" sound all excited. When you are walking, say, "Go Potty!" all on the leash. Then when they finally go potty, make a big deal out of it saying, "good dog, going potty outside, you are such a good dog!" and pet and scratch and be all happy. Then walk around a bit more to make sure they are finished and then go back inside. Saying, "Go Potty" also gives the dog a command to go pee. I can now tell both my dogs to go potty and they will go ouside and pee. It's a great tool for when I am in a hurry and trying to leave the house.

When I fist got my dog, I had to take her out about every 15 mintues. She has only had about three accidents in the house. Plus, she isn't aloud in our bedrooms. She is only aloud in the kitchen and living room.

If you take your dog outside and they don't go potty, then bring them inside and put the dog in the crate for about 20 mintues or so. Then take them back out. Get all excited when they do finally go potty.

Oh, and if they have an accident in the house and you don't catch them in the act, then you can't punish them. They dont' remember doing it.

And only feed the dog twice a day. And if you need to, restrict the dogs water. Dogs will need to go potty about 10 mintues after they eat. So, keep an eye out for them to finish eating.

If your dog won't eat all it's food in one sitting, then add some canned food to the dog food and they will eat it right up.

Also, dog food with a lot of corn in it will make them poop more. So, look for a dog food that doesn't have any corn in it.

So, get a leash and attach the dog to you. Watch for potty signs, and make big deals out of good potty habbits. It's a lot of work but trust me it works. We are accident free, and I have potty trained many dogs. I shoudl start up a buiness. LOL!!

But I really don't get a lot done for the first month or so of the dogs potty training. I am constantly going outside with the dog.

Also, walmart sells a cleaner called Urin B Gone, or something like that. It's in the "As Seen On TV" section. It works, I use it on my boys bathroom, but it works for animals too!!

I hope this helps!! Sorry this was such a long comment. I love house training dogs!! I am wierd!!

I have no ideas at all...but I'm getting some good ideas about potty training my daughter!

We had a chaweenie (a chihuhua/dachshund cross) that we could NEVER potty train. I tried everything, I don't know what the deal was. We eventually had to get rid of the dog, there was a nice elderly widowed woman in town that wanted her and she says she's still doing great. But still has accidents. I'm not sure if it is the breed or what. Good luck girl!

I agree with LeAnna, my puppy is getting OLD (going on 15!)so we are back to having potty problems. We started regulating water and food times, and that has been working really well for us. Hang in there chickie...ya'll get it figured out! Now, I just need to master the art of potty training my kid! HAHA

Oh you poor thing...our Yorkies are 8, and luckily for them we've been told over and over...that they are the hardest breed to potty train. One was easy, the other is still an "issue"!
And believe it or not, weather plays into whether the "issue" one will opt for grass or floor!
I wish you luck!

Interesting dilema! My grandmother has that issue with her yorkie. Sometimes she uses her "piddle pad", other times, just the carpet. Who knows what these pups are thinking. Sounds like you got some good advice here in the comments, hope they work for ya!

Welcome to Little Weiner dog world.I am finding that our little weiner doesn't like to go outside because it's either to cold or the grass is damp(and we live in Fl). She sometimes goes on our front porch. A little better than inside the house. You might want to check with your vet just to make sure it isn't a medical situation. We do have to crate her when we are gone for more than an hour. She doesn't seem to go in her crate that much. Sometimes when she goes outside she gets to busy chasing her big brother around the yard that she forgets to go. Their attention span isn't great.Everyone that I talk to that has a doxie has the same situation. One thing you are not alone. Dee

Oh That is frustrating! I know how you feel. I was told once that it takes just as long to potty train a puppy as it does a child. huh? gah! I feel your pain my friend, I hope he learns soon, before you lose your mind!

I feel for you!! Weinie dogs are tough rascals to break. Mine is over a year old and still has accidents. I do take them out before bed and tell them to go potty and they go. It's during the day they sneak under beds and such. Summer is almost here and I will boot their little butts OUTSIDE!!

Nature's Miracle...it'll kill the enzyme's that keep him coming back. We had that problem with our dog for a little while and it seemed to help a lot.
