It has finally stopped! We are soaked to the skin, covered in mud, and suffering from severe cabin fever but the rain has finally stopped! Now bring on spring and some 75 degree days!
In giving praise to the Lord for this tremendous blessing, I have decided to forego the quest for weight loss and make my late Grandma Hogles "Wesson Oil Cake." It's yummy and simple. My family doesn't like frosting so I dust the top with powdered sugar and call it delicous! For breakfast, I'll put a generous piece in a bowl and pour milk over it. Not very nutrious, but Oh, So Good!
Here is the recipe:
2 Cups Sugar
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
3 Cups Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
1/3 Cup Cocoa
1 Teaspoon Salt
2/3 Cup Oil
2 Tablespoons Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
2 Cups Water
Mix well - use a 10X13 baking dish - cook on 350 for about 25 minutes.
I'll walk on the treadmill later!
Blessings, in the name of Jesus!

Hey, thanks for the comment! This cake sounds so good, but I better wait and make it in a few days. I just made two loaves of banana bread and need to give them a chance to work their way off my thighs... :) Lord bless you in windy Kansas, and enjoy the sunshine!
All of us (except David) love milk on any kind of cake. It is sooooo yummy. My Gramma makes a delicious cake with a "kinda crunchy" carmel frosting, it is the absolute best in milk!
How can you not like frosting????
Keep praying for spring!!
Hey Paula, love your pictures! Cute Cute family. The cake looks great! I am always on the lookout for new things to make.
I don't know a great lot about Kansas. My Dh in his trucking days used to haul cattle to Liberal and Garden City quite often. Matter of fact he had a fender bender in Garden City early on morning.
Have a blessed day!

Well we would do just about anything to be wallowing in the mud! Sounds like heaven to me!
I'm always looking for a good recipe and this sounds like one I need to get in the oven ~ thanks!
