The Hot Heels!

Since our arena is not up yet, the guys still need to practice. So instead of live cattle, we use a mechanical steer called a "Hot Heels". It is pulled with the four-wheeler and Rick can do all kinds of practice and training on his horses behind this thing. Here is Rick heeling on our little horse, Blackie. You can see the rope coming around the feet, and yes . . . he has two of them! We can take it out slow or get the steer going at a good clip making it feel like an actual run at a teamroping event.
